The Sooner You Start Email Marketing, The Better
A few weeks ago Richie DeMarco and I discussed how painful it is to organize your photos and we gave you a few tips to help you save time.
We discussed the importance of a properly setup database and specific strategies about the necessary data so that you will be able to effectively use email marketing.
Are you using email marketing?
Is it just a spreadsheet with a bunch of email addresses? Are you saving any other info?
You should be and we tell you what it is and why it’s important.
Remember these are long term business goals, email marketing is not something that you should be scared of especially when you know the basics.

This is Richie DeMarco and Denise Butchko for Constructing Your Brand. And today’s question is “What am I missing if I don’t have an option on my website?”
So we’re talking about Opt-ins today To be clear, for people who don’t know what an opt in is, you’ll recognize it when people say “sign up for our newsletter”.
That is the most common opt in that there is. And what that means is that people are trying to get other people’s attention so that they will then be added to your e-mail marketing list so that you gain permission to communicate with them and eventually make a sale. So opt in-equals something like subscribe to my newsletter.
And while still common, the use of the word “subscribe” makes some people suspicious. They fear you’ll bog them down with tons of salesy emails that provide them with no benefit.
A couple of alternate options are “Register Now” or “Download” as labels for those buttons on your site.
And the idea here is to be very specific in what you’re offering them. A specialty piece of content that’s succinct and helpful. Not 997 tips, but your three best tips.
So some really some good content would that you’re remodeling your closet in your master suite. Learn the proper layout for your closet. And that could be relevant for new home builders as well. Very targeted Very helpful.
You’re developing that expertise and connecting. So you get people with the idea you giving something first, you give them some great information. They download that. And you know if you’ve done it right you’ll get a call with an opportunity to sell to them. That’s what an opt in is.
